Pubs

I found in Belfast (city hall) the definition of a Pub:

While I was reading the description, I had the impression that this meaning is old, and I had in my mind the Pubs that you have in each big city: you have the dark wood, nice beer, live music, dancing, everything glamorous. Exactly this kind of place I saw in Dublin.

But this is actually made for tourists, because this is what we expect from a Pub, right?

I was so happy to discover that somewhere in Ireland, in a very small village, the definition of Pub that I read in Belfast is actual. I was invited by the owner of the place where I stayed that night to come and have “the full experience” and I am so happy I did it. The Pubs in the area are not many, and this one was the one that had Bingo each evening of the week. So we had to drive 10 km to get there – sorry, no beer for the driver – and I was for the first time part of a Bingo evening. It was funny to see what the adrenaline to earn some money makes from people that have no other activities in the area to socialize.

What I found interesting: everyone knew everybody. I was the only “intruder”, but I was easily accepted. The trick: just order some beer.

I loved the experience!
