Edinburgh

The castle in Edinburgh is the only one that I visited during my trip in Scotland. I purchased the ticket online and I paid 17 pounds (otherwise 18 pounds). The ticket I collected one day in advance and I was the only one (afternoon time). The entrance was at 9:30, the opening time of the castle. There were many people and we were split in 2 queues: the ones with tickets and the ones without tickets. I visited the castle at the end of September and the waiting times were ok.

I spent 4:30 hours at the castle. Of course I took an audio guide for 3,5 pounds and it was a very good decision. There was a lot of information about the castle itself, but also about history. I enjoyed the visit a lot!!

There is also Whiskey tasting and I for sure didn’t miss it. It was a weird whiskey: single malt with liquor (basically very sweet Whiskey).

About the city itself: it’s unbelievable. And I don’t exaggerate at all. It’s that kind of city that one must not miss to visit during a lifetime. I am maybe the greatest Ireland fan in the world ever, but I think I loved Edinburgh more than Dublin and this is hard.

In Edinburgh there is also an Unicorn:

The Dean Village is inhabited by locals. I feel sorry for them, with so many tourists every day.

The Calton Hill:

Victoria Terrace:

Arthur’s Seat – a hill/small mountain with a wonderful overview of Edinburgh. There were a lot of female tourists wearing ballerinas. I considered the risk to go up to unnecessary, considering the number of tourists (many – and I mean many) on the unstable track with ballerinas. The views at the summit were still amazing.
