Japan – the arrival

Today i finally arrived to Tokyo, after two years of planning and dreams. The flight was with LOT Polish – not too expensive, they had good service, the sit was ok, but I couldn’t sleep. At all. I tried to, but didn’t work. I closed all the electronics that could distract me, used ear plugs, even drank a glass of white wine before, but couldn’t sleep. None of the people around me could.

The flight was with stop in Warsaw – unfortunately 5 hours … From Warsaw to Tokyo took 10 hours.

During the flight I received from the attendants two flyers that I had to fill about my entrance in Japan. At the border, the process took (for me) maximum 10 minutes and I was so happy when the visa landed on my passport.

Once I was in the airport, there were some things to solve first, before I start to visit, and this were:

1. Router wifi – I picked it up from the postal office (floor 4) in the airport. I used it today already and I find it really easy to use, you just have a tiny device that gives you internet. I just have to charge it. Some people complaint that the devices couldn’t go through the day, so you receive a power bank with the router. I am curious how the signal will be once I’m in the country side.

2. Suica Card – for this I had to go to the actual train station in the airport. The card itself costs 500 yen (4 euro), but when I will give back the card, part of this money will be refunded. I already put some money on this card and also used it for shopping at some grocery shops. And it will be a real bless when I will travel by train. But I am not sure how this will work, so I will update it after I use it.

3. Tokyo Shuttle Bus Ticket – it costs only 1000 yen (8 euro) and the drive was 70 minutes. I hoped for nice views, I was disappointed how gray the way was.

4. Tokyo Subway Pass – once in Tokyo, I searched for this pass, how to buy it for about 45 minutes. The Japanese people are very nice and they really want to help, but none of the people that I asked could explain me in english where to find it. In the end it was there – somewhere in the underground, i will not find it again that simple. The underground in Tokyo is as big as the city itself I suppose, because I walked for kilometers. The pass is 1500 euro (12 euro) for 3 days and to be honest, I used at least half of it’s price already, so it’s really worth it. The problem is that I will be in Tokyo 8 days, so I need another 2 and I have to find the place again to buy it …
